Prompt Engineering Reflection
To target my resume towards different industries, I prompted AI to create versions geared toward the media production and hospitality industries. I did this by asking for each version to reframe my skills and experiences to fit the expectations of the requested field. I also asked the AI to make it organized and formatted in a one-page PDF format.
Compared to my original resume, the AI-generated versions were more tailored to a specific industry. Instead of just listing general skills and leadership roles, the revised versions reinterpreted those experiences to highlight how they could be useful in production coordination, guest services, customer interactions, and event operations. This made the resumes more compelling for the audience it was trying to persuade.
Through this process, I learned the importance of giving AI clear, specific prompts because the more precise the instructions were, the more effective and customized the results were. I also learned how you can adjust phrasing depending on intended audience to appeal to different career paths.
